For Brian, who doesn't have a LJ, but I've owed him a Harry/Ginny fic for the last year or so.
Story Name: Because love crosses all borders...also insanity, but that’s not the point.
Story Genre: Harry Potter.
Story Rating: T
Pairings: Ginny Weasley/Harry Potter. Also Terry Boot/Susan Bones and Theodore Nott/Luna Lovegood.
Disclaimer: ...I own pretty much nothing.
A/N: Christmas fic for Brian. Slightly cliché, but everything’s been done in Harry Potter these days. Besides, Bri’s a hopeless romantic anyway, so he won’t mind *shot*.
It started, like most school relationships, with two manipulative classmates.
In this case, Luna Lovegood had formed an unholy alliance with Susan Bones, who, like all good Hufflepuffs, just wanted Harry to be happy. Because he deserved it after everything he had and must still face.
Susan immediately got the large pro-Harry faction of the Hufflepuff house to work on watching as many romantic movies as they could, for ideas on how to join these two, very special, people together. Meanwhile, Luna worked with a smaller group of Ravenclaws to make this date perfect and uniquely suited to them.
Finally they had come up with something that was bound to work and Luna could relax. She put her head on the desk that she was working at in the library and went to sleep happily...
...That was, until she woke up.
"I don’t think that you should be sleeping in the library."
The first thing that she saw was that he has pretty eyes. Like Ronald, Neville and Susan’s boyfriend Terry. But unlike those three, this boy had sad eyes. Eyes that had almost frozen over, hiding the person underneath from view.
Almost. She wonders if she can thaw this snowman. If she was anyone else, she would also wonder why she would even want to, but Luna believes in being friendly to anyone that hasn’t hurt her, which, as far as she can remember, does extend to this person.
Even if he’s the son of a convicted Death Eater. She smiled at him and replies gently.
"I’m sure that the books don’t mind." Because they wouldn’t. Most of them, especially those in the History of Magic section, have been slept on before. He shrugged and sat next to her, quickly glancing at her plans to match-make with a seemingly disinterested eye.
"Not bad. Pretty cliché though."
"After what’s happened to them so far, they might enjoy clichéd normality for a date."
"...That’s a good point. Just one night when they aren’t being attacked by Death Eaters and they can be like everyone else. Well, almost everyone."
"’Everyone else’ doesn’t apply to mad-women and potential murderers, does it? I noticed that."
"So I’m only a potential murderer?"
"I’ve never seen or heard anything about you being a murderer, so until I do, it’s only potential. Potential that I hope that you’ll never use."
The last bit was whispered, but Theodore can hear every word. He’s never seen himself as having much of a choice before. It was more or less inevitable in his eyes that eventually, he would have to kill to survive.
Not that he wouldn’t hate himself for doing it, of course. But only good people got choices to fight for what they believed in, and that excluded him by default.
He doesn’t think that he can ever tell Luna that. She still thinks that he’s a nice person, even if he’s a Slytherin. And the son of a complete and total idiot who forced pretty much the whole family into joining the wrong side. So he gives her a faint smile -and when was the last time that he gave anyone anything even remotely like a smile, he wonders- and murmurs quietly.
"Don’t ever change. Innocence like yours should be treasured and preserved, not thrown away like a broken toy."
When Harry entered the Room of Requirement to find Ginny soaking luxuriously in a spacious bath, innocence was the last thing on his mind.
"Hi Harry. Do you want to join me?"
Or, apparently, on hers. His mind came up with two conflicting arguments.
But she’s Ron’s sister!
But I love her!
"So, did you do all of this?"
She stared at him in disbelief.
"I thought that you’d arranged it. And this is now starting to look like one of the twins pranks."
He shrugged, starting to take his clothes off.
"In that case, let’s enjoy it while it lasts."
