Story Name: Torn apart at the seams...(part one)
Story Genre: Battle Royale II
Story Rating: T/PG-13
Pairings: Hikasa Shota/Hosaka Yasuaki
Disclaimer: Okay, I don’t even speak Japanese fluently, what could possibly give anyone the impression that I own BR II? Title from a line of Bullet for My Valentine’s ‘All these things I hate’. I don’t even own a copy of that yet.
A/N: The dialogue that I borrowed from the movie is taken from the subtitles on the Tartan copy of BR II. This is the last fic in the series consisting of ‘Planet Hell’ and ‘This isn’t the way I thought I’d die...’ ...Split into two parts because I wanted to use a certain phrase in the fic. Besides, I can't finish this yet.
‘Torn apart at the seams,
and my dreams turn to tears,
I’m not feeling this situation.’
"We don’t even have time to mourn." It was the first time he had heard Shindo speak since Totsuka’s death and he found himself answering.
"Maybe that’s for the best." The rest of the team were staring at him, confused and he shrugged.
"If we had more time, we’d get overcome by shock and grief. This way, we’re more numb to the fact that a lot more people here are going to die. And we are going to die. They outnumber us two to one, actually can aim while shooting and have no problems about killing other people. I bet that half of us still surviving now die before tomorrow."
"Hikasa? If we get back, go on anti-depressants. Because you’re starting to scare me now." Hasuda’s slightly inappropriate comment broke the silence and they started to cheer up. He had no answer to that.
They ran to point A, listening to the gunfire that meant the other team had started attacking without them. Considering the people in that team, he assumed that they had attacked first because Kurosawa and Aoi had anger management problems and Kitano was an impatient ice statue. Maybe.
Nanami ran over to join Kurosawa in trying to blast open the outer wall of the base, both getting thrown back by the recoil of the rocket launchers. The rest of them scrambled up the hill. At one point, Aoi got knocked off and started firing aimlessly, most of the bullets hitting Sagisawa, who had just managed to get up herself.
Kitano sent her grenade into the base. There was a large explosion with a lot of smoke and then they entered through the outer walls.
On the outside, the base had looked impressive. On the inside, it looked like it had been made up of rubble from other buildings. A piece of roof there, a few pipes there…he even thought he could see bits of someone’s kitchen in one part of it. There was a doorway opening in the middle of it that was probably the only way in.
Oh, this is so cliché. And now we’re going to enter into a room surrounded with snipers.
There was a little girl playing with a ball in the room, which had pools of water bridged by a few pieces of stone. Kurosawa and Kitano raised their guns, but Shindo ran out and knocked Kurosawa’s gun aside.
"Wait! It’s a child!" Kurosawa looked at her as if she had just told him that the earth was flat.
"What?"
Then, apparently noticing that she was right and that it was actually only a little girl rather than an armed terrorist, he lowered the gun slightly and snarled.
"What is she doing here?"
The little girl, like most little girls when confronted by armed teenagers with loud voices, ran away, trying to get to the next room before one of them lost their temper and shot her. Personally, he didn’t blame her in the slightest. They started to follow her across the stone pieces.
One of the girls shrieked as an explosion went off in the water near her feet and she was sent tumbling into the water. Another swept Nanami and Jo off their feet. Soon, most of the students were in the water. The lights switched on...
...to reveal a horde of Wild Seven snipers aiming directly at them.
Shit.
To be continued...
