Title: Unrequited
Fandom: Battle Royale II
Characters: Osamu Kasai, Kyoko Kakai.
Claim: General.
Prompt: Ace of Cups.
Word Count: 210 words.
Rating: PG.
Warnings: Implied het, tiny bit of spoilage for the movie.
He loves her.
He has loved her since the first day he saw her, when he came into the class and was told to sit next to her. If this was a fairy tale, she would love him too. And they would live happily ever after. But that's not going to happen. Real life doesn't work like that.
He thinks that she likes him, but he honestly can't believe that she loves him. As for living happily ever after, they're in a ruined terrorist base on an island in the middle of nowhere. And they're being targeted by governments of more countries that he knows the names of.
Happily ever after doesn't seem to apply to them.
Still, she likes him more than she did at the start of this trip -and that is most definitely a good thing- so maybe he still has a chance. Besides, he wants her to be happy. Preferably with him, but he'll settle for a friendship.
She yawns and rests her head on his shoulder, in unconscious imitation of his action earlier, and he smiles and wraps an arm around her to steady her. Maybe things are looking up. He wouldn't quite bet on a happily ever after yet, but it's still an improvement.
