Another five things...

Doctor Who - I started on Nine (so I'm not as much of an elitist Old!Who fangirl as I claim) and whenever I say that I like Doctor Who, I usually follow it up with 'But I don't like Ten/Rose' (or something to that effect) and there's a story behind that, which includes abandonment and some lesbian undertones...okay, I may be kidding about that last one, but to be honest, I wasn't a fan before that happened. And I got really angry about it and one of the reasons why I can manage something resembling warmth for Martha is because she made me realise that just because I hate one companion doesn't mean that it has to ruin 40 years of a series.

My interest in Classic!Who was just a bit of curiosity. I told myself that if I found one companion that I hated more than Rose, I'd stop bitching about how much I disliked the character. I haven't (although I've found a lot of companions that I like more).

Torchwood - Doctor Who's 'drug-addicted and promiscuous cousin'. Involves a lot of same-sex kissing, most of the regulars and recurring cast members getting naked (I'd call bingo, but I'm still waiting for PC Andy to at least get topless), unnecessary ship wars (there's a simple and somewhat IC answer that involves a rather awesome orgy), very little plot and characters that I'm ashamed to admit that I actually find cool.

Although I personally only watch it for Owen and Tosh (but [livejournal.com profile] lycoris also associates me with Owen so I can't say too much about that yet). Toshiko is cute though. And seriously unlucky when it comes to romance. And probably owns a nuclear powered vibrator (and damn it, if she hadn't died in the series two finale I could have made a joke about that).

Battle Royale - I'm not as much of a fangirl as I used to be, but I can still write fic on it. I've changed ships a lot since I started (although I'm still a Shinji/Keita movie!shipper, even if it now has added Yutaka). V7 made me a bit of a die-hard Hirono/Shinji shipper as well. My actual OTP is Mitsuru/Izumi (still! Guess BRRP hasn't changed me that much) because, while I have a lot of ships I like more, I can't write Mitsuru or Izumi with anyone else.

Fanfiction - I write it a lot. Since October 2002, in fact. And almost all crack (I like crack). I started writing slash and fem-slash in 2005 (it was pretty much gen before then, as I wasn't very good at romances in general back then). I have a nasty habit of solving ship wars with threesomes (I blame it on the Yu-gi-oh fandom, actually, because they're a lot better with threesomes than some others I could mention) and I'm willing to try to write anything (except incest. Mainly because my own brother is a bit of a jerk).

Owen Harper - For those people that don't know, Doctor Owen Harper is/was the medic of Torchwood Three. He's also a snarky jerk whom we first see using alien sex spray to pick up a girl and her boyfriend. We see him naked in episodes 2, 6 and 10 of series 1 (technically in episode 7 of season 2 as well, but he's on an autopsy table, and there's a sheet over everything below the chest).

He's the most bitter of the Torchwood team, has absolutely no bedside manner to speak of (and would probably make a dirty joke about that statement that I just can't come up with right now) and tells Gwen on her first day that he has a hobby of 'torturing people in happy relationships'.

We find out (of course, this is over a season and a half later, and he's already technically dead by then) that his first encounter with Torchwood involved his fiance's brain getting munched on by an alien parasite (and not the Animorph kind, although I'm sure at least someone else was thinking it) and Jack getting Tosh to modify the CCTV footage so that the only person that knew that something weird happened was Owen himself, so that everyone he asked about it thought he was delusional.

I have the horrible suspicion that the first thing that Jack ordered Owen to do, as Torchwood medic, was dissect the parasite (and the bits of said fiance's brain that it was still attached to) for scientific study, since it's neither Toshiko or Suzie's (the other two Torchwood members that we know were there at the time) areas of expertise.

He dies mid-season 2, gets brought back as an asexual zombie unable to feel pain and possessed by the Grim Reaper for one episode and then gets trapped in a nuclear reactor that he was trying to stop from destroying Wales.

And I'd bet pretty much anyone £50 that despite being a zombie and incapable of healing, he can still beat up certain sparkly!vampires that I could mention (possibly with the Singularity Scalpel, which I'd kind of love to see).
