canonical_insanityRewatching Mawdryn Undead because I have done two pieces of coursework in the space of four days and need some relaxation time. So, my thoughts on part one...
- It must be the 80's. None of my teachers left their cars there with the bloody keys in if they didn't want them stolen.
- Turlough is a terrible, terrible driver. And I don't like his hat.
- Yay, technicolour screen. In which Turlough has an out of body experience in which theleprechaun on his shoulder Black Guardian stood beside him tells him to burn things kill the Doctor.
- Why is 'I'm an alien, get me out of here!' not a reality TV show in the Doctor Who universe? It should totally be.
- Hello, Five!
- Emo!Tegan is still so awesome (although I haven't seen either of the Mara stories, so I'm not quite clear on why she's upset). Nyssa is still pretty boring though.
- You know, in one universe, the Matron made Turlough strip completely (in front of the camera, I might add) before getting him into bed. This, unfortunately, is not that universe. Also, his "I'm not going to bed!" is incredibly immature but adorable.
- Evil crystal of doom! ...Although if I was the Black Guardian, I'd use tourmaline. Or obsidian.
- Turlough, you bastard :D. I feel a bit sorry for that other kid.
- Scrying: Turlough is probably doing it right, but by the Goddess we wish he wasn't.
- I can see the strings on that alien ship. *shot*

- The Brig can see right through Turlough's shenanigans and he is not impressed. At all.
- Turlough, you bastard :D *repeats, expects to be repeating it a lot more throughout this summary*.
- Yay, Tegan!
- Well, that monument is all kinds of phallic.
- No, Turlough, we're sorry to say that your average 80's public schoolboy does not know what a transmat capsule looks like, or even what it does. What were they teaching kids in those days? *facepalm*
- Turlough must have had Textiles between the car crash and this point, because he's now superglued the crystal to his hand. Honestly, with the amount of adorable fail that he provides, he should get a job with Torchwood. He'd fit right in.
- The Black Guardian channels the Master for a bit there. Fails because, despite some incarnations of the Master having no taste in clothing (hello there, Roberts!Master), he at least has never worn a bird on his head.
- It seems the TARDIS ships Five/Turlough/Nyssa/Tegan, as she refuses to dematerialise. Good for her.
- The Brig is not impressed with tales of vanishing!Turlough. You'd think he'd know better, seeing as how he's seen the Doctor's disappearing trick before (end of Inferno, anyone?). Of course, it's one thing to see it on a UNIT base, done by a man that he knows is an alien, and quite another to see it done by a schoolboy, albeit a rather odd one who looks more than a little older than school-age.
- Yay, it's the hat rack of doom! *has watched Frontios* Apparently, that hat rack is the only weapon Turlough's actually handy with. He's much better with it than...oh, a rock, for instance. *shot*
- Okay, the Doctor fails for not noticing that Turlough has clearly been in front of him since he entered the TARDIS.
- If I didn't know that Turlough was trying to assassinate Five, I might think that he was trying to get some 'alone time' if you know what I mean (and I think you do). ...Fuck it, despite knowing that Turlough was trying to assassinate Five, I think it anyway (Jack's the first bisexual companion my arse *shot*).
- Well done Tegan for being suspicious of Turlough! ...Of course, I have the horrible feeling that it's out of jealousy, and is therefore less awesome. However, she has a point about Turlough's lack of amazement at alien technology. He needs to work on that.
- Okay, the Black Guardian is a huge ham. And is clearly not that good at the whole being evil thing if he's resorting to getting alien schoolboys to do his dirty work.
- I have to make a Lord of the Flies joke here, I'm afraid. Even though Five isn't wearing his brainy specs. However, if Turlough's Roger (which he shouldn't be, because with that hair and uniform, he's clearly Jack), and Five's Piggy (when with that hair, he's clearly Ralph), and (as of V8 canon) Shuuya Nanahara is also Roger, does this make Turlough Nanahara by default?
